One-Day ACHASM Construction Health and Safety (H&S) Symposium, Gauteng 2018

This summit will focus on modern technology in the form of building information modelling (BIM) and its role in H&S, and topical issues such as client baseline risk assessments (BRAs), cost of accidents, H&S culture, medical surveillance, motor vehicle accidents (MVAs) during construction, SMEs / subcontractors and H&S, support work and formwork, and the role of procurement in H&S. Furthermore, the Construction Industry Development Board (cidb), Department of Labour, and the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP) will provide an update relative to their industry H&S related mandate. The focus is attributable to media coverage afforded the construction industry in terms of ‘accidents’, and collapses, in addition to the incidence of fatalities, notwithstanding the fact that ‘one fatality is one too many’.
